So the TV listings say that they are dancing the Samba and American Smooth. As far as I know American Smooth is a style of competition in the States that basically just means the ballroom dances but a bit bigger and broadwaysy. So that should be pretty interesting.
And we get the annual Candy/Brendan performance; I wonder if they'll make it like a rumba even if it's not a rumba like the [almost] always do.
Oh Jason, so dramatic.
Rach: "What is with that frock?? Looks like she's been dragged through a sack!" @candy, of course.
Jase's tie is pretty neat, I'd wear it.
Aha, a smooth on the Vienesse! That should be interesting.
Can one be a film and television diva? I thought that was a musical term? I may be mistaken of course.
Hehehe! nice little salute from Paul. I like it.
Rebecca and Aaron
Don't kill the song singer! I always get frightened when I like the song.
hahahahahaha! that was cheesy, but fun
It's really fun. Silly and cheesy which maybe to their detriment. Seems to lack some energy because of it.
Rach called it the Comedy dance.
Judges
B: yeah - a bit bouncy [7]{7} A: bounce is not bounce! it's oscillation [8]{7} C: see a bit tp far to silly [7]{7} P: But Paul! It told a story! [7]{7}
Tamati and Samantha
The little rainbows in the costumes are pretty cute.
Wyclef! Again a song I don't want the singers to sing.
Why are they slow!! both couples so far havebeen using music that;s a but slow.
There was the poster pose!!
shoulder shimmies! I would get in so much troube.
Again, it's all a bit... lacking. Cheesy and .. hmmmm.... not quite as fun as the previous couple.
Also again, some comedy dance.
Judges
C: that's what we felt too, a little somethingf not there [6]{6} B: He's not doing too well with words today. [6]{8} P: I think it's all because it was just too slow [6]{6} A: But that wouldn't have to happen if the music was faster [7]{8}
Geraldine and Stefano
A Tisket A Tasket? What the flip?
Lots of mistakes with the hold there.
What is this? The "Watch me I'm Stefano show"?
Even I think tonight's episode has been a little laughable.
Oh my god. That was all just... just.... just....
Judges
P: Very good of him to bring up the Arthritis. [5]{6} C: Compared to a tombstone? Good on you for telling off Stefano. [6]{7} A: Yeah, but then he over danced it! [6]{7} B: Straighter than a straight mans straight bits? Awesome! [5]{7}
I think that I may be being hopeful with my predictions.
They really scored them that high? I'm just going to go and get drunk.
Corte jacques. They make feel dorky when I dance them.
Josh and Rachel
Yay! Calypso!!!
Again, very slow though.
Oh, I feel sorry for him. It's really flat, and what should be cute moments are lost.
I take that back after knee spins and belly drum.
It was really flat, and what should be cute moments were lost, except for the knee spins and the belly drum.
Judges
P: It's a hard dance though. [5]{5} C: All except for the knee spins and belly drum![5]{4} A: [6]{7} B: [5]{6}
Barbara and Jonny
oh god. Scissor Sisters. this can only lead to sadness.
At least they started a bit more exiting.
and kept more energy up than some of the others.
Judges
A: Body tic. Knew some owuld mention it eventually. That's an insanely hard thing to do! [7]{6} B: But she's had mainly the super fast stuff! Can't ooze quickly, that's called flooding.[7]{7} C: [8]{9} I agree, Samba of the evening. P: [8]{8}
Hooray! go Barbara and Jonny.
American Smooth Vienesse
Not sure how I'll comment on this one. We'll just see what develops.
Aha! so her name is Ali Harper!
has anyone else noticed that's an anagram for Rap Hailer?
Oh Tamati completely outclasses Josh in the solo part.
'Barbara: Woah what a spin thingy!!! There;s some of the softness Brendan was looking for
Rebecca: Cool dress, could soften just that little bit more.
Geralgine: Again with hold problems.
josh: I am growing to like him. He better stay this week
Tamati. using some cool syncopated rhythyms at this speed and in 3. pretty cool.
I enjoyed that. once the dancers got on the floor.
Judges
Rebecca: I thought that was a bit mean, it was still pretty good. {30} Tamati: I agree, he does a good job of leading. {32} Geraldine: It wasn't super-great - well done on commenting on Josh {28} Josh: It was a good job. He better stay!!!!!{26} Barabara: I'm glad that he was watching them after his earlier comment about the softness.{33}
I have no idea what they are gonna score them.
Brendan and Candy
The first year they did a rumba. The next year they did a waltz. The waltz had all the elegance and style of a rumba. The only time that it didn't feel overly rumba-y was when they did the jive last year. Hopefully they'll do something more trad this year.
Oh look! It's some of the Candy Lane Dancers!
Brendan always tells the dancers to get into hold and get going, they are just dicking aroung.
so far it's not even clear what they aresupposef to be doing.
Transforming costume was neat though.
Did they start rumba and and changed to fox?. But that rumba wan't rumba wasn't rumbay enough and the foxtrot isn't foxy enough. It was a bit... welll sleazy in parts.
But for just straight up cabaret, not too bad.
I think I think it's odd that they don't model what they tell the celebrities they are looking for.
Elimination
I'm guessing it'll be down to Geraldine and Josh, and I'd really rather Josh stayed.
Comeon Josh!
WHAT THE FUCK!!! HOW THE FUCK ARE THEY SAFE?!!!
This is insane.
that bottom two is so wrong.
WHAT!!!!!!!!! HOW THE HELL DID THAT HAPPEN?????!!!!
Motherfathergoshdarnwhosywhatsithsdf,msfgheuosbnscjgksdgbsotgesgnsdkjgnsohoersghosf a world of wrong!!!
I don;t see how second by the judges and [obviously] last by the vote averages out to last place. That's maths I just don't understand.

I'm blogging a day behind today, so unfortunately I once again know who is leaving before I watch it. But I'll try not to let that colour my commentary.
Also because we are tired and it's on tape we might skip some of the more "variety programmy" bits.
Chris and Kristie
Rachel is snickering at his beard and hair. She says it could be me. But it can't be. Rachel never lets me wear goateee thingees.
Just figured it out! Thats not chris!
Abba? Really.
He's concentratig hard, which is fair. I think he's improving though.
Hard stuff. Maybe if she'd toned down the choreography a little.
That little (big) kick thing was cool.
again, they managed a pretty cute ending.
Judges
B: Brendan's right, he's not doing too bad. Not Rodney Hide or Tim Shadbolty. [5]{5] A: I'm kinda really just tuning her out more and more. [6][6] C: I think he's being real at least.[4]{4} P: Going dark tonight Pauly! I think it's because Chris was showing some good stuff, and definately getting better.[5]{6}
I think Kristie might be trying to scab some extra points.
Barbara and Jonny
Rach says "Your not on your board now!"
lots of cool tricks.
She could straighten her legs more though. Might be from balancing on the ocean.
Awesome ending. And a nice throwback to the ending of their Paso.
Judges
A: [7]{8} P: Telling the story! Have a drink! [8]{8} B: That's what Rach was saying: It looks gangly. [8]{7} C: hahahahaha![9]{9}
Like an Amazon Candy? A-man-zon more like it.
Tamati and Samantha
So emo!
Well... a bit more Prince maybe. Like a mix between a goth and Prince. Vampire Prince.
Some cool lines. But something missing when they are actually moving.
Judges
C: hahahahahahaha! All very fair.[8]{8} A: [8]{10} P: Story! Have another drink![9]{9} B: Journey! Have another drink! (I'll need to top up my glass soon)[8]{9}
Not to sure what Alison was intending with that score. Hahahahaha. Stop talking about stories judges; it's doing me any good.
Josh and Rachel
Oh wardobe. bad enough that she's usually burstin out of the costume.
Stop singing along. it looks silly.
hahahha! Round off was nat.
I thnk that htis is the best he's done.
That was, I dread to say it about the token rugby player, not too bad. His enjoyment was infectious, even if his technique was not perfect.
Judges
P: That's what we tried to say. That he's being high energy. And stuff.[8]{8} B: We can all see how much he wants it. [8]{6} A: [8]{8} C: "Technically abmysall, but entertaining" best line of the night so far[6]{5}
Rebecca and Aaron
You better be good Rebecca, Barabara is going to eclipse you soon.
Aaron! you look crazy with your spiky hair.
Looks like it;s going to be more trad. Which is nice.
ooh! Accordian, very argentine.
nice and strong.
Darn you Baz! This is the song that the mashed with Roxanne on Moulin Rouge, and that's all I'm hearing.
Judges
B: We had to rewind to the lifts, I was typing. They looked a bit like she was just jumping around him for the first one. [8]{8} C: Tangolicious!!! Who do you think you are? Bloody Blaine from Project Runway?[9]{9} P: ooooh! he's gonna score them high [10]{10} A: [9]{9}
I'm not sure what Paul was intending with that score.
Hahahahahahhahahahahaha! sam joke! twice!
Geraldine and Stefano
If this dance is as good as the rest of theirs, they'll be going home.
Sparkly Braces! Kinda fun.
Oh these singers are making me sad.
Song all about the boy. How odd, and uncharacteristically not egotisical of Stefano.
Match your partner Oliveri! Stop overdancing her!
Is she singing or counting. I hope it's not counting, she just fell completely out.
She's very flat.
Rach: "She better go home. She's worse than Chris!" and I can't help but agree. Just because she's a bit older and .. stuff... doesn't mean we need to be nicer to her.
Judges
C: I think she might be a bit mad too. That nervous laugh was fantastic. [5]{6} P: hahahaha. That was great![5]{5} A:[6]{6} B: I'd probably have said the same thing.[4]{6}
How did they not come last. That's appalling.
Frankie Stevens
Hell yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
I love Frankie Stevens.
Poor Rach, having to learn about Frankie and John Rowles in the course of one season.
When I was in Form one, maybe two, no, I think one, we went and saw Jesus Christ Superstar and we met him after. I've probably still got his Autograph somewhere.
Awwww Brother and Sister Hobbs.
I am so getting that CD!!! Is John Rowles releasing one too? It would be easier to only have to make one trip.
Final Two
Chris Hobbs Geraldine Brophy
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! That's so not fair. Daylight robbery.
If they'd only got 4 more points, that;s only one from each judge), they'd have made it. :(
Keep doing it! Dancing is such a lovely thing to do.

Before we even start, let's make it clear that I'm well upset that John Rowles has stepped out of the competition. I was really looking forward to him being really cheesy and making a come back with his new self deprecating image.
And he didn't sing Cheryl Moana Marie. He could still come back and sing it later though.
All I have to say is "If we only had time, oh-oh time".
The publicised reason for his stepping out is exhaustion. There's a fair bit off gossip that might be more than that, but he was up for Latin this week and there's the chance that the Latin for this week is Jive. And I can understand that one wearing him out. Heck, just a three minute jive kills me, I'd hate to have to do it for hours at a time.
Of course, if it's not jive and it's rumba then it's a completely different story.
8:28 Just caught the end of Coro and it turns that indeed it is a completely different story. The Latin is Rumba!
Here we go!
I was hoping that Jase was going to work in some green wardobically speaking. Perhaps he'll do a silly voice instead.
Good reading Candy!
-------- John Rowles' Package
That's all quite cute in Tokoroa.
There's something a little magic about "Cheryl Moana Marie" that I can't help from singing along really loudly.
I'm saddened that John had to step out, but I shan't really miss Krystal.
Oh Candy, she's never really done a good job. Krystal is quite competent at teaching men to stand still while she dances I suppose....
Oh...Tamati and his partner as a cowboy and a ..... scarlet lady.... hrmmmm
----------------------------- Geraldine and Stefano
Didn't Stefano do the top hat thing last year? Maybe that was in a foxtrot though....
Sadly, there is no chance that these two will be ejected this week...
Lady is a Tramp? really? i don't buy that for Geraldine.
ooo Stefano is smarmy.
The opening is lacking character. IT's way more foxtroty.
no shape in the lines.
I hope that Alison says something about heel leads. They are quite lacking.
There is none of that cool flying across the floor that Quickstep needs and feels.
The ending was.. well... a bit Krystal Stewart. She just walked while he danced.
Judges
B: I didn't love the opening and I still thought it was a let down. [6]{6} A: See! I knew it! And I feel she was justified. [6]{7} C: What a jacket! Neat! [6]{7} P: What a tie! Neat! That was funny about the leading. [6]{7}
Oh man, last week I could fast forward the ads.
--------------------------- Rebecca and Aaron
Package was a bit nothing....
on with the dancing.
Every week a curtain. This one isn't as hideous.
More straightening of the leg .
Tricks are good but steps are lacking due to the lack of straightening.
The singer is really quite awful. that's not helping.
Compentent. Not deliciocous.
She was restrained though.
Judges:
A: Should could frame that more positively. [7]{7} P: That's what I was thinking. It's all fair. [8]{7} B: Story, I'll give him that. It's rumba. [7]{7} C: Like a Vacuum Cleaner! Hahahahahahaha! And there was lots of trust. Lots of hard tricks. [8]{8}
Awwww.... Cry-y celebrities.
Candy says that every year. I never find her that ... inspiring.
----------------------------- Yay Jason!!!!! He's been my choice for years.
Tamiti and Samantha
Fun package... but I still found nothing really to say.
Be better than Jessica Simpson.
Oh shes not; I thought noone would ruin the song more than her.
It's a bit... hokey. Now they are in hold it's away.
In fac it;sawesome.
more flying across the floor.
Urrgh... the line dancing was a bit ..... urmmm....
hah hah the roundy bit to the music was good.
And then Samanthaa made the big mistake at the end....
Judges
P: That's what we've all benn saying. It was lacking just .. something. I think it was when they were out of hold. [7]{9} C: I bet Brendan hates it though.[7]{9} A: Talking about gallopping without a proper horse joke. [7]{9} B: Good call Brendan. She's doing a fantastic job. Unlike some who aren't in the competition anymore.[7]{8}
"I'll plug in". great.
Wowsers! what crazy scores!
--------------------------------
Barbara and Jonny
A grease theme. For rumba?
They aren't going to do hopeessly devoted wearing those costumes are they? If they are I'm going to buy a copy of the film and send it to the costumers.
Oh. It's another Quickstep. That's cool then. I take back my previous snarkiness.
Lake Pupuke. Been there! I can't make out Hame's house though. It's there somewhere.
Hahahahah! That jump was ace!
her smile looks a bit forced, and she's panicing some steps.
What's with the little breaks in the middle of quicksteps this year?
Neat little ending.
Well done Jonny. Referencing the nuber in the film just enough.
Judges
C: Good lord... could he be considering a ten? [9]{9} B: Bout time they recognised them after the first week. [9]{9} P: But that's she's starting to is ace [8]{9} A: it was a bit like the two of them were just having a chat there. [8]{9}
I rate that higher than Tamati and Samantha.
--------------------------------------- Chris and Kirstie
I really hope that he steps up this week. I'd be sad if he hams it up during the dance.
Oh the old "Carry her on" opening. hard to do toes there.
He's not doing tooo bad.
that was an awesome trick - the leany thing.
He;s in time. .. mainly
his lines aren't al terrible.
Well coreographed Kristie. That was really good for him.
Judges:
B: I think I feel proud of him too. It was really nice {5}[8}]P: hehehe neat comments {6}[7] A: commited. yes. I like that. {6}[7] C: i do agree with Craig. Brendan probably is two sheep short of a sweater. But I did like the dance. {3}[3]
------------------------- Josh and Rachel
I'm actually a little frightened before this one has even started. I hope they dress her properly.
oh gosh. They didn't really dress ger.
Quite fun opening.
He looks worried. but at least they are covering the floor.
That solo stuff was terrible. HPoor guy, he's going to be really upset with himself if last week anything to go by.
It was all nicely in character for the song.
Judges P: good work on expecting him to pick up [5]{7} A: it'll be especially hard for him as his muscles will be all tight [6]{7} C: Exactly right. [5]{5} B: You will see him next week! We know that![5]{6}
i don't think he deserved that much after they fell out so much.
Final Scores
Good on you Paul. Nice way to avoid the answer.
I think we all know what I'd have said.
I'm sure the girl from My fair lady will be good, so I might finish it up right there.

A little different this week. Had classes to go to so we set the tape. then the tape stopped before the end. So I now know the scores before I see the dances. We'll see how it goes.
Bit tired, probably won't be as detailed as last week.
Rebecca and Aaron
Quite nice, not magic. Shoulders a bit to far forward, which closed up the space.
Some of the changes where a bit ... sloppy.
Easy though, nice to watch. Just not magic.
We cam in here and the tape had stopped so that's about all I can get in.
I agree with what the judges had said.
B:7 A:7 C:8 P:8 (I was picking 6s and 7s)
Elimination
"the next couple safe tonight is..." good that's fine.
"also safe tonight is...." that's not good. "also safe tonight are..." ARE. are!!! arrrrrrr! not that tricky.
Grrr Stefano is still there. How does even get in the building with those massive teeth.
Awww. Poor Lizzy and cody. Not enough comedy value to stay :(
Think I've figured out the prior problem. He never leaves the building. And at the end of the season they take the entire roof of!
Candy Lane: "I'm reading"
Back to the start
Look at Jason's shiny patent leather shoes! I just got some patent tonight for dancing in. Nice to dance in a new pair.
"Everybody's talking about it Jason, I can tell because I'm reading it from the autocue".
Slow Foxtrot - yummy.
Paso - I don't know very much about Paso compared to the other dances.
Jonny looks like a pirate! Dyarrrrrr!
Stefano looks like the whiteware department at noel leemings.
Rachel Burstine? Rachel Bursting out of her top more like.
Josh & Rachel
Package is just a little anoying.
She looks like she's wearing curtains again! and it's just a bit bizzarre.
Ooo fun arrangement.
Some ... ummm... walking about.
I can't get past that costume. It is insane.
I know paso should be strong and choppy, that doesn't mean that there is no fluidity
She must be sore after those tricks. She hit the ground hard. And his shoulder hard. Poor girl.
Judges:
Did Alison steal her Nana's dressing gown?
Yay for Craig saying something real.
That was a good call Paul. Well done.
B[6]{7}, A[6]{7}, C[5]{4}, P[6]{6}
John and Krystal
Man I hope this all leads to a big comeback for John Rowles. We watched Second Hand Wedding in the weekend, and I enjoyed him most in it.
My parents never did the Foxtrot :(
Much nicer costumes.
Yay!!!! he's singing!
Pretty nice. Smooth.
needs to compose his face a bit more for the judges.
Went a bit wrong, but it was in the fun cheesy bit.
It's a shame that he went a bit wrong. Really nice ideas.
Judges:
Craig: I thought he might say something like that.[5]{5} Paul: Aw, that was all quite nice. [5]{5} Brendan: hahahahaha Herman Munster; that was a nice little bit.[4]{3} Alison: More definition between slow and quick! she's really coming in to more this year. [5]{6}
Barbara & Jonny
he is a Pirate!!!!!! Dyarrrrrrrrrh!!!!
were be his eyepatch?!
Much better!
Wiw! awesome tricks!
Rach thinks the music sounds like Tat.
That end was pretty cool.
little niggly timing issues ut nothing major.
"She's not dead Jonny! She's an Olympian!"
Judges:
Paul: I thought she got more performance than should be expected.[8]{8} Craig: yay[8]{8} Ali: Heel leads! only a matter of time before she mentions that.[7]{8} Brendan: again yay.[7]{8}
Chris and Kristie
Those to are pretty funny together (Chris and Rebecca)
Oh, I wish I had a nice cane. There's amboo at the house
That was cool. All cute so far. I really dug the intro.
not great, but nuch better than last week. His head is too far left.
She's choreographed much better. And he's making sure to look up.
Judges
Ali: not too sure what she said really.[5]{6} Brendan: it was much better[3]{3} Paul: counting on the inside - tricky one.[6]{6} Craig: even during the intro? Meanie![3]{3}
I think the dance off would be more entertaining that Candy and Brendan dancing again.
Geraldine and Stefano
We watched Second Hand Wedding in the weekend, and I enjoyed her not as much as John Rowles. He had a minor part. She was the lead. Let's see if that translates to Dancing with the Stars.
I just remembered that I already saw that they had the lowest score.
He looks like a samba pirate! one arrrnd two!
her top line is all over the place.
too much concentrating on scary faces not enough on the dancing. I;ve seen lots of comp cpouples lke that though.
Man. Compared to Jonny and Barbara, that's just embarrassing.
Judges
Brendan: truly moments of horror.[3][{3} Nice Jase. Nice. Ali: heel leads! Have a drink.[4]{5} Craig: When she pulled up her dress at the beginning I thought the same.[2]{4} Paul: I was bored too. It was empty. It looked like to me like someone who has been told what Paso looks like, but not like someone who had been taught to Paso[3]{3}
Lizzy and Cody
So not fair that they have to leave when we could have lost Stefano!
hahahaha that bit with the wave was cool.
I think that all of the Foxtrots tonight have sort of showed the personality of the celebrities which is cool.
Nice little snappy bit.
Real shame that they're out.
It stilted a bit when they first got into hold. but it was nice.
Judges:
Ali: I love that Jase really sort of took the mickey there.[6]{6} Craig: Even I thought that he was a bit mean there[6]{6} Paul: maybe that's fair, but she's a hockey player.[6]{6} Brendan: I saw some nice stuff there. I think that was prety mean.[6]{3 <- what the hell?!?!?!}
Tamati and Samantha
yay! Tim Shadbolt. Choice.
Oh! He's supressing his smile!
Wel, he's certainly in Character.
I'd like to see him push is teps a little further.
Still loks like he's leading, which is neat.
Ending was cool
Not as ace his the waltz last week, but cool.
Judges:
Craig: I thought Jonny and Baraba where better. Rach agrees with Craig.[8]{9} Paul: A.Ma.Zing. That was awesome.[9]{9} Brendan: hard to comment on that. [8]{9} Ali: or that.[9]{9}
Rach pointed out the little salute. That was cool.
We just talked about how he looked like he was leading, and that when they where out in solo he kept in unison.
so that's it for the night.
Final thoughts
I actually really saddened that Lizzy was the first to go. I want Chris around for even longer now because he and rebecca are really funny togther.
Good episode. I enjoyed it.

Thought I might blog my reactions to this years competition as it happens. Hopefully semagic can handle the save and edits.
First thoughts: I'm not too sure about who's on it this year, and who's dancing with who, but I'm looking forward to it.
8:30 - oo new dancers. 8:31 - gah! stefano again.
New music... hrmmm.... I think I like it better, but it's different so I miss the old stuff.
Yay! Jason!
"I'm reading!"
I was clapping when Tamati came on. I guess that's evidence that he's my favourite before anyone takes to the floor. I think it's just because he seems like a nice guy.
oh all the dancers are strangers, it's not cosy having them here,
I take it back, it's nive to see Aaron and Jonny.
already I am having trouble seeing. Thank Stefano and your Stonehenge like teeth.
Yay Ali and Craig and Paul!
With the judges scores the [x] is my prediction of the score they will give; {} the score they actually gave.
Couple Number 1: Barbara and Jonny
before we start:
Well, she does tend to win. Good music for the package.
The song just makes me think of work....
hmm - quite a nice dress
nice getting into a chatacter, good extension of the body
nice changes from closed to PP
heel leads could be stronger to get more rise. but pretty good first off the block
Judge's reaction
Brendon: oh god. here we go. sell the story again. [6]{5} Ali: knew she'd talk about heel leads. [7]{6} Craig: "Too aggressive"... I can see where he's coming from, but for a beginner... [6/7]{3} Paul: See, where I was impressed by the fact that she was extending, they were looking at the quality of the extensions. Pretty good sign.[7]{5}
Man, I sucked.
Couple No. 2 Chris and Kristie
If you've always wanted to learn, take classes! There's lots of classes around! I start one tomorrow night! 8:30 at Cornwall Park Primary School. (Man I'm smooth)
Well, I hope he gets better.....
I hope she starts wearing dresses.
She's over dancing him.
The slide was cool.
Ending could have been smoother, but was pretty cool.
Judges reaction
and it will turn nasty Jase.
Craig: Oh Craig. "Cha Cha Cheerless". I'd have said all of those things.[2]{2} Paul: Paul used that joke with Rodney Hide. He used "hide" twice in conversation. I think we know what he's saying.[2]{2} Brendon: It was hard to watch, I think I was looking at this screen[2]{2} Ali: I sort of had no reaction to what Ali said [4]{3}
I like Chris' comic attitude; his jokes are fun. I want him to stay for just that.
And look! I did better with the scores this time!
Couple No. Toru: Geraldine and Stefano
Oh man. I hope she does well. Only because this is the couple I am least excited about seeing. Last year I'd always have something snarky to say about Stefano; and I've had the displeasure of seeing her exposed bosum. I have some bias here (I'm not even going to pretend to hide it).
hey! It's Awhina (Miriama)! she should have won last year!
My god! A shot of Stefano in which he shut his mouth! I didn't think that was possible! Looks like it's milliways for dinner then.
Intro was terrible. What as he thinking. Fall-away whisks are a lovely step to do. If you've never done let me know, and we'll try it together. /cheesy wink.
thoroughly unexciting and unappetising. If that dance was a dish and I liked tomato sauce, I'd have to cover it in tomato sauce. In fact, it would be better if they were covered in sauce.
Judges
Paul: Good lord. Perhaps I was watching something else. [6]{6} Brendan: Musicality and Grace? She was walking about like a tractor! [6]{7} Alison: Oh I must of been watching something else. [6]{7} Craig: Perhaps I was too busy trying to think of snarky things to say. [6]{7}
I may have to rewatch this on the tape then. I thought it just looked like and elephant dancing with a ... really annoying person.
Couple No. Wha: Lizzy and Cody
hehehe disco hockey. That I might consider playing. Looks a laugh. And you can blind your opponents!
from the package he looks like he's teaching important stuff early.
Hey hey! He hasn't waxed. Props
They've a chance. I'd like to see more energy, but a nice routine, She's got some room for growth.
hahahahahaha! They just danced a move that's called "hockey stick"! Very cool little touch.
When she thinks about it she remembers to straighten her leg.
I rate.
Judges
Ali: is turnout this years heel lead? [6]{6} Craig: just nerves don't you think craigyboy? [5]{5} Paul: precisely. [6]{5} Brendun: everyone's saying she's got. [5]{4}
I liked that he didn't over dance her. It was good. I think I like him.
Couple Rima: Tamati and Samantha
I like that Jase made the joke about them both having similar tv backgrounds.
they're going to dance to My Way! I like that song. I like murdering it at Karaoke at least.
be neat Tamati. Please be neat.
hehehehehehehhe
that's all very cute
Nice rise and fall
good timing
Looks like he's leading
maybe smiling a bit much
That was nice. My favourite waltz so far.
Judgerinos
Brenden: yes. [8]{7} Paul: I'm making happy squeals. neat.Neat! [8]{7} Craig: he was distracted by the dimples. [5]{4} Ali: Rach rang. I missed most of what she said. but from what I did hear [8]{7}
I was pleased indeed that I clapped for him at the beginning.
Couple Ono: Rebecca and Aaron
Reckon they could be pretty good as well. I saw her once actualy. At the video store. I was to scared to say anything. Probably for the best actually.
I like watching it when they are happy and excited. It makes me happy and excited.
They make for a handsome pair.
He looked a bit like spidey at the begining
Ha! Neat!
She looks like she's just having a good time.
She could get her weight back a little more. And really use both his arm and her own.
Awesome coreography Aaron. Good job! I want to learn that routine. It looked a hell of a lot of fun.
Judges
Craig: hahahaha fab.u.lous. I love when he does that silly split syllable thing. [8]{7} Ali: ooo dancing in to the floor! something new again for Ali. [8]{7} Paul: neat [8]{8} Brendyn: yep fair points [7]{7}
Couple Whetu: Josh and Rachel
Jase is cool. Candy is reading.
I suppose at least is nice to see another rugby player giving it a try. Ha! I slay me!
Brave girl. Wearing a curtain.
Nice clusy lift.
Timing has moments.e
Rach thinks we can steal some of these moves for wedding couples.
Except for the ending. It was rubbish.
JudgeZ
Paul: That's because he was scared. It's terror, not sensitivity. [5]{6} Brendzn: Not a surprising thing for him to say. [5]{4} Ali: Gees Ali! Talking about lots of different things. [5]{5} Craig: I think it would have been pretty exciting if King Kong did come out. [4]{5}
His jokes aren't good like Christopher Hobbs' are.
Couple Waru: John and Krystal
I hope that Krystal doesn't just dance around her partner this year. I really want to see John Rowles go far. just because that increases the chance of "Cheryl Moana Marie"; and I very much look forward to singing along.
Hopefully Jase will be singing along too.
Okay - I sang along there. It felt good. I have to find the cd that I have that has that on.
I don't think ever be brave enugh for that hat.
Oo! actual hips!
timing a bit shaky
settle down those shoulders
when he hams it up, it's ace.
The pose at the end was good. The twirly thing beforehand, not so much.
Judges
Ali: I thought she might be fanning herself off. [5]{6} Craig: That's the hardest I've laughed so far. [3]{2} Bredqwdcen: He's right there's something there. I want him to stay. [5]{3} Paul: Oh Paul, that was a bit flat. But fair. Like bathroom scales. [4]{3}
Don't lie Candy, I'd not want lessons from her.
Final Impressions
I think that Barabara and Jonny suffered from going first. I think that if the judges had seen them in the middle they'd have scored better.
I still don't understand Geraldine's score at all.
Still quite exciting.
I've a favourite man celebrity and favourite lady celebrity.
And really hope that John and Chris stay. Even they probably should go sooner rather than later.
If I do this again next week it'll probably be later off the video tape. I was only home tnight because of unpredictable epistaxis.
Oh and anonymous commenter! I don't know who you are!!
I'll resist making a "Time to Say Goodbye" joke. No doubt Jase will make a better one than I can think of.

Last friday saw both my best friend Jon the Scientist and my cousin Jenna celebrate the anniversaries of their respective births.
Jon turned an age that I daren't mention,and Jenna turned 21. I inform you of this now, as the first sentence of this entry implies that there is more of a connection between these two events than just the date. There is not. From henceforth Jon will not be a part of the story; indeed Jenna will be but a presence further towards the background as the tale progresses.
Jenna, you see, was raised in Kaitaia, which, for those unfamiliar, is a small town further north even than the small town in which the early part of my raising was undertaken (Kaikohe). As such, Kaitaia is the place in which she chose to hold the festivites. Rach and I booked a motel room to sleep in and headed up for the party, to take place on the Saturday night.
The party itself was very nice, and I drank mainly light beers, until the end of the night, when I moved on to some merlot. When the party closed down. a bunch of us decided to go to the Kataia hotel for a dance and further merriment.
Now, Kaitaia is not known to be a centre of culture, but it isn't as if the whole place exists in a cave. I didn't expect to get a gin martini, but I thought that I would have more options than just a handle of Lion Red.
Barman: "Yeah, whaddayawant."
I scope the supplies above the bar looking forsome wine. Aha! I spy some bottles of white in the fridge.
Me: "Have you got any merlot?"
Barman: "What's that?"
Not a "What's that?" as if to say "I beg your pardon, I could not clearly hear your request." but a "What's that?" to say "What is this thing called merlot".
I was shocked.
Me: "It's a red wine."
The barman pointed to the bottles I had priorly scoped in the fridge.
Me: "Oh, whatever"
Obviously colours where not this gentleman's strong point in new entrants.
Me: "I'll have a white then."
Gentle reader, I must request that you steady yourself at this point, for we have reached the most shocking part of the tale.
The Barman (he has at this point gained the capital B as he is obviously somesort of arch-villain)then turns from the fridge and the previously established bottles of white wine and offers to pour me some wine from a cask.
Not that I'm a snob, I was simply surprised that someone could manage to land a job in a bar with about being able to tell the bottles of wine apart.
After downing that we decided it was time for bed. I went to say goodbye to my cousin, but she wasn't with her friends. When I asked her friend where Jenna had gotten too I was taken by the hand and lead towards the ladies bathroom.
Me: "I can't go in there!"
Her: "It's okay, she's been gone a real long time."
Sometimes people have the strangest thought pathways. Sometimes, people are drunk.
Sometimes I think this whole episode is funnier if it stops at "What's that?"

I just got called a badass.
That's pretty neat.
But even neater is the rationale.
My boss called me a badass because I bought 2 pan au chocolat at the foodtown.
Chocolatey french bread snacks and he calls me a badass.
I thought it was funny

Today I have eaten three quarters of a block of king size lemon cheesecake chocolate.
Sometimes I even gross out myself.
Tomorrow I am going to Wellington for the morning. I shan't eat as much chocolate there I am sure.

I am on a precipice. Maybe that's not right. A cusp? Can you even have a cusp by itself or does it have to be part of something? A threshold maybe?
I don't know. Something poignant anyway.
This morning I stepped into my 25th year of life. I have now been around for just over 24 years and 1 hour, and it's an odd feeling.
Perhaps it's just my usual dementia making me look at everything more negatively than is perhaps neccesary, but this birthday hasn't been the most exciting.
For example I dreames not of presents last night, but of one my white shirts. The one I am wearing actually. Maybe this birthday brought forth my latent clairivoyance?
And I suppose I'm getting fed up of feeling like a wraith around the house. And I miss my sister. It's only the second time that she hasn't been around on my birthday. Which will make us pax actually. But still.
And I had expected to have heard from my father by now. But I have not. Sad that at 24 I struggle so much still to get his attention. I heard from him. Still sad that I strive for his attention.
Anyway - I have a present from my Mum and my sister sitting in the car waiting for them to call later on. I'm not allowed to open it unless I'm speaking with them. Of course with time differences, that will mean I'll have to wait till nearly 11.
Side note: I have misplaced both my dance shoes and my iPod. I am severely pissed off about it.

this is an extract from an email conversation with Hame:
Last night I was all like "Oh my god, I love your shirt" and this girl was like "I love yours too" and then we were all like smiley and then she was like "I'm Jen" and I was like "I'm Jeremy" and she was like smiles and I was like holds hands and then ceroc man was like "move down" and we were all like sad
and then we were leaving and we were all like sees each other and then we were like smiles and we were like "bye"
and yeah
Also last night I met a girl named Jemima. It was exciting.
"Hi, I'm Jeremy". "Hi, I'm Jemima". "Ha, we're like the twins in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"

As is well documented in this journal that I like dancing. In fact it's usually pretty obvious if you just see me walking along a corridor or something. And I do really like it. In fact, I love it. But I don't like Ceroc.
You see, I can see what the people who invented Ceroc where trying to do, and I appreciate that. And it may even be that overseas it's much better, but here it's a bit poos.
Oh, for those who don't know what I'm on about this from ceroc.co.nz:
Ceroc French Jive is a funky partner dance generally done to chart, nightclub or swing music (you can also dance it to other music). This is a partner dance that you can dance at parties, nightclubs or just about anywhere!
During the Second World War, American GI's based in France introduced Jive to the dance scene. The French, being French, adapted it and described it as "c'est le rock", hence the abbreviated, Ceroc.
In January 1980, an Englishman of French decent named James Cronin started classes in London, which are now enormously successful. Angelique Meyer, living in London at the time, attended classes and was hooked! She trained to teach and decided it was just what New Zealand needed.
Ceroc dancing is a similar exercise, fitness and dance regime to, and / or complimentary with, argentine tango, balboa, ballroom, blues, boogie français, boogie-woogie, broadway, cabaret, cha cha, charleston, dancesport, disco, fox trot, jazz, jitterbug, lambada, latin american, le roc, lindy hop, mambo, modern jive, partner dancing, paso doble, pop, quickstep, rock and roll, rhumba, salsa, samba, social dance, swing dance, viennese waltz or west coast swing!
So I went to a lesson last night, mainly to see a friend who I haven't seen in an age. I knew I wouldn't enjoy it. And I did not.
Ceroc classes don't tend to teach actual timing of steps, just tell you where you should be. Which might be okay for people with no dance experience, but it doesn't help them learn.
But I am digressing, the main point of all this is so I can relay the way that I explained Ceroc to another friend of mine.
You know how chicken is really nice. And chocolate is really nice. But together they would make a foul sandwich? That's Ceroc. It takes a whole lot of really cool stuff about dance and puts it together in a way that isn't cool.
Ceroc is a chicken and chocolate sandwich.
Of course lots of people like Ceroc. So I probably just don't get it.

Holy shit! Where can I audition? http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Movies/04/21/leisure.startrek.reut/index.html
For those who don't want to follow the link: JJ Abrams; Star Trek; Early Stuff.
Apparently when the Kirk/Spock/McCoy tri first meet at the academy (not sure how that's possible - Bones always struck me as much older than the other two).
It'll be like Trek-Felicity.
I wanna play young spock / noel crane!!!
And in other news it turns out that some of my flatmats are as insensitive and uncaring as I always knew they where but tried my best to ignore.

Me and Pulsie hit the mailbox. The crumbling brick mailbox.
Now it's just crumled bricks.
Oops.
(Oh, Pulsie is my car)
(So named because she's a Pulsar)
(And Hame's Silvia is called Silvie)
(it's a pattern see)
